This will probably last longer than their other mobile games, if they do it right. Racing games just have more replayability than games like Miitomo and (imo) AC Pocket Camp. I even enjoy those drag racing games where you just shift gears when it tells you to.

I don't see much reason to keep milking Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. New tracks could be cool (especially for battle mode) but it feels complete to me.
That said, I would prefer a new Switch Mario Kart game.

They may have specifically chosen to not make new content for MK8D regardless of whether or not they were going to make a mobile game.
