Author Topic: is it normal to hate your minimum wage job  (Read 5510 times)

I get that most people dislike their minimum wage job, but they seem to tolerate and stand with it most of the time. i've had so far two minimum wage jobs, one as a cashier and another as a host, and I hate them on what seems to be an unhealthy level. am I just to spoiled?

i hated my first job so much and i posted about how much i hate it. my current minimum wage job is pretty fun actually and i dont mind working there for 9 hours a day at all

yeah. minimum wage jobs generally aren't fun

why wouldn’t it be normal

like I dread tomorrow I have work. I just seems like some people are cool and ok with it

what job is it phanto

Yeah, jobs like that are high-stress and low reward. Doesn't help that you're young and you know that it's gonna get better and you just want to get to that point already lol

my previous (first) minimum wage job sucked bad. $8.45 an hour working in a dirty grocery store deli, working alongside rude/narcissistic coworkers who constantly broke the rules and committed serious health-safety violations which went unchecked (too many horror stories there to count), putting up with rude customers (plenty of stories there too), lugging around heavy 10-40 pound boxes filled with raw chicken or ribs over my shoulder from deep freezers to very hot kitchens filled with industrial deep fryers and ovens. all for 8-10 hours non-stop. it was backbreaking and emotionally draining work. burned myself bad on hot oil and pizza oven surfaces numerous times. did all that for 2 years and im very happy to be out of it now.

now i work in a sandwich shop for $10 an hour, and its actually a pretty nice place to work. plus i actually have friendly and respectable coworkers. only downside is that i dont get enough hours.

this for me too

forget I hope it's just the work environment sucks and ill find a cool job that I can tolerate and enjoy

aiming to get this one job near which is a supermarket, it pays 9$ an hour so that wont be too bad when i turn 16

is it normal to like your minimum wage job

back when I worked a brief stint at McDonalds, I loved the job straight up

They put me on fryer and grill duty the few weeks I worked there and I had a lot of fun. I'm not sure why, but going back and forth, seasoning the burgers, raising / lowering fryers, dumping them out, was just fun for me to do

how do you even remotely like a fry cook job

not only is it normal, it's expected.

in my case it was my coworkers who were the problem. they were extremely rude, arrogant, and frequently cut corners/did things the wrong way in order to save time. my manager in particular treated me really unfairly.
