a long time ago, pomps started their life tiny, and had to eat other pomps or pomp food to grow to the full size of a pomp. the final stage right before becoming a full pomp was called "almost". pomps were also able to grow past their normal size, and even become second-generation, third-, fourth- or higher generation pomps by eating further beyond their full size
this system has since been phased out, with all pomps born at full size and generation determined by age. The Almost is the last pomp to still use the old system, and therefore the last almost in existence.
he has the power to increase his generation by eating to above full size, and can theoretically become a ridiculously high-generation pomp, but being the only pomp using the old system, he has no food for this (pomp food doesn't help pomps increase past full size)
