Because, you get say the super mario bros, for $5.  You also get to pause and stop the game and resume at the exact same spot any time you want.

Savestates, bitch.
Badspot ok'd talking about roms and emulation, at least for SNES and older.

how about playing on a widescreen?

And supporting the person who made it?

Can't do that with roms can you?

Oh, I was not aware of that.

Buying a SNES cart off of ebay does not support the people who made it. As you may have noticed, you can't really BUY THESE IN STORES ANYMORE.
And widescreen monitors ftw.

But buying a SNES rom off of VC DOES, this is what tails was getting at.

It supports mainly Nintendo, the people who made it get a fraction, if any at all.
That, and the vast majority of games I want aren't on the VC yet, if ever.

At least they get something, it's not like they were getting any money from those games before the virtual console.

The game came out 14 years ago.  It's not like you can go to toys r us and get a new Super Metroid snes cart so who cares if you download it.

I'd have to disagree with that.

You can turn a Wii on and go to the shop channel and buy it fairly.

Does that not imply that Nintendo is simply bringing morals back and showing their greed by doing this?
By doing this they think that they will stop people from downloading and emulating the games free of charge because they are no longer sold, and buy it from them instead.
I think so, anyway.
