blockland: the community that killed the game

I recall Kompressor as being the one who was behind most of the substantive work with shaders/v21. He didn't post here much that I can recall but he's always seemed nice.

there were more moderators than that, maybe you just don't remember - but as time went on, yes, there became less and less moderation.
no..there wasnt..?

This place is infamous for having like only 3 moderators max in its entire history. Where are you getting this info from because I only remember Rotondo, Ephi, and Kompressor…and Ephi was the most active of the three by a large margin

I sincerely hope you will never have to suffer the heartbreak associated with someone close taking their own life. Self Delete is an awful plague that affects many young men, such as those attending these forums, and having this kind of statement as something practically every user will read is not going to be completely unimpactful.
You think I've never had to suffer from the loss of a loved one? I have dealt with it, on more than one occasion unfortunately. In fact, one of my best friends who I met through this game took their own life - do you think it had do to anything with this game though? the answer is NO, because people go through the most real life stuff outside of the internet

even if it is full of "weirdos" (which I assume is meant to be code for queer and trans folkx.)
it was actually code for creeps, but that stuff is pretty weird too...

It's different if it's the users saying stuff like that, but for the main developer(s) of a retail product say that is unprofessional and creates an abusive and toxic environment for the paying customers, it's no wonder that with a young and impressionable playerbase that the community eventually started adapting similar behaviors
I agree, and as I already stated, I would never even say such a thing to my worst enemy.

i'm honestly tired of being told to chill when doing so has done even less for helping a situation than me openly expressing my feelings
okay don't chill then D:

I seem to recall Space Guy being a moderator as well, but lost his mod powers at some point out of the blue

I don't really care about catering to tattle-tales or people who don't like mean words; I do have an issue with the creeps but I also acknowledge that he eventually got around to banning Neinhaus, Clone, Emo Freak, ect. My only real criticism with Badspot is how little he did to protect the privacy of children. I wouldn't enjoy running around after autists to sweep up their stuff tracks but if I was operating a forum for a lego game full of minors I would at-least do them the courtesy of removing their personal information if they asked me. There are forumers who became victims of real life violence because of it. Psycho stuff

i hope at some point you reflect on why youre playing devils advocate

I specifically said I hope you don't have to. I'm sorry you did, but I'm surprised that you remain so non-chalant about a grown man telling children to kill themselves if that's the case. Just because you think that it had no effect on your friend in particular does not mean it has no effect on the mental health of others.

Badspot is a run-of-the-mill starfish with a superiority complex. He just so happened to strike gold with an idea before anyone else was able to execute it.

I'm not sure why Goth77's recent post history is sympathizing with this man. Everything to how the community formed, developed, its totality, and its legacy is all the product of his stuffty behavior. He has indirectly changed many young lives for the worse because of his inaction and general lack of regard for the children he was completely aware his game would attract.

He does not deserve anyone's sympathy. Not an ounce.

but the people posting furry art don't last long...
I don't have anything else to say about your stupid posts except what do you even mean by that. that is patently false

The most replied to thread in the forum's history is the Brony thread.
The second is the thread where children can post pictures of themselves.
The fourth is the furry megathread.

I think that really says everything to be honest.

N.B.
Anyone else notice how all the people who were Bronies or Furries in like 2012 ended up identifying with the LGBT movement as the Brony stuff died out.
Also how it seems like as the forums have died it seems like the proportion of people on here who are LGBT has really shot up. Like it seems like it's >50% of the remaining users.

it's almost as if A Lot Of People Are Gay

It's also almost as if the people who used to occupy those threads grew up and have since learned about themselves and who/what they're into

You don't think the proportion of people on this forum that are LGBT is higher than humans in general?

yeah but like, furries and bronies had a thread on every forum in existence, you couldn't go to a specialist forum for discussing new Subaru parts without seeing one.

Post real life pictures of yourself is insane though, in retrospect. We really made it easy for predators, we had a forgetin craigslist board as a forum thread.

dunno how you're even quantifying that

the proportion of people who grow up on the internet and present as LGBT will always be higher than the proportion of people you see in day-to-day life because it's not only easier to be clearly LGBT through profile pictures and usernames and the like, but also because it's just easier to be openly LGBT in the online space than it is in reality. people are still being ostracized, disowned, kicked out. and assaulted all across the world and unfortunately it doesn't seem that this is going to stop anytime soon. while the internet has allowed people to abuse anonymity to act as utter loving monsters without consequence, it has also allowed people to be who they truly feel comfortable as without running the risk of ruining their life. it's safe, at least in that regard.
