FORGOT to say : u all r going to hell.

My trans friend was doing some PDA over discord so I called her gay, then she called me an immigrant. It was pretty funny. She also got married to my other friend, so that's cool too.  :iceCream:

Why is it that on every online forum, that being either like Discord, Reddit, Twitter, or even the damn BLF, 50% of its users are gay or trans or something. Yet you go outside and notice that they make up like 1% of the pop. Are LGBT people terminally online?

you have a cognitive bias. for every queer person you see online there are like 9 other straight people who just aren't making themselves as visible because all they do is play valorant and talk with their friends or something, which also goes for a lot of queer people
there are absolutely straight dominated communities, you're just not in them for some reason

i spoke to somebody in-game who is trans this question and they said it's simply easier to find friendlier spaces online, and that it's easier to discover who you are and to express yourself online so you end up finding that most lgbt people have spent enough time online to become who they are. this would also answer similar questions like why are so many furries programmers

probably a bit of this too

It's a lot easier to be open about your loveuality and find other people who you can relate/debate with on the internet. All fringe beliefs are gonna be discussed a lot more when the people discussing them aren't worried about literally being killed over it.

yeah, its not fun that i have to hide everything about who i am to anyone even relatively close to me, both friends and family, in fear that i'll lose them all in my pursuit of self acceptance :)

worried about literally being killed over it.
how often are people actually threatened over being gay nowadays? unless you live in the third world, I doubt that people just go up to random gay people unprovoked and start harassing/killing them. especially with how many gay pride flags are on peoples' front lawns, businesses, etc.

you'd be surprised by rural/small towndeep red states - probably wouldn't see things as extreme as murder, but absolutely would see harassment. urban areas are just generally by default relatively safe, or have very safe spaces, even in super-anti-lgbtq states like florida.

i mean i guess i could post the pictures of national socialists rallying outside pride events and drag races and disneyland and i could tell you about the multiple trans/queer friends i know that have been ostracized/outright disowned from their Southern families, but i guess secondary sources are just words to some people.
so how about this: back when we started flying the progress flag in front of our house my little sister was running a lemonade stand out on the driveway. some guys in a truck rolled up and said to her, "we'll loving kill you friends" and sped off.

it's real, and it is anywhere. you only haven't noticed because you aren't a target.
