In it's retaliatory strikes, Iran has now launched missiles at Israel, one missile striking a girls school there resulting in massive casualties, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and other US military installments. Even Cyprus was hit despite the country trying to maintain neutrality in this conflict. These strikes would not have happened if the US didn't decide to break it's ongoing negotiations. US service members are dieing in this completely unstrategic attack, allegedly to stop Iran's nuclear development (which we supposedly stopped last year in those missile attacks) and were in active negotiations to prevent, having finally brought Iran into agreement to stop stockpiling uranium less than 24 hours before the US and Israel attacked. This is all completely unnessary and stupid. The Ayatollah having been killed isn't going to stop the Iranian military, which runs the country, from continuing its war. It's not some sort of unilateral leadership with no contingency plans. Khamenei was 87 years old. To suggest they had no plans of how to continue their dictatorship with him dead is loving dumb.
But yeah anyways, firing continues on both sides. Khamenei, being not just a political head in iran but also an important religious figure for the Shiite faction of Muslims, and as such his assasination has caused Hezbollah to renew their own strikes against Israel, which in turn has ramped up its airstrikes on Lebanon under the guise of trying to target fighters, but mostly just bombing residential neighborhoods in Beirut with the deathtoll of Lebanese civilians now reaching 31.
US officials put out a statement intially claiming Iran was attempting to come back to the negotiation table after being shown how strong the US military is, but the leader of Iran's national security council has basically put out a statement saying "why the forget would we negotiate with the US, they attacked us"
Annoying Orange put out a statement saying that we will continue our operations in Iran until "all objectives are met" or something to that effect.
And the forgetwit goes and does a photo-op in the "situation room" where not only are maps of current US troop and ship placement is visible, but reveals that he isn't in the bunkers hardened against attack in DC are, but instead in an unsecured lounge in Mar-a-Lago with random drapery hoisted over the rafters to block view of the outside. These idiots do not give a forget about anyone's security, not our own service members and certainly not the civilians in Iran we are indiscriminately bombing.
