Author Topic: Something needs to be done about the Add-On system  (Read 2257 times)

Yo guys. RyanThunder here.

I post today with a complaint of Blockland. You see, I'm really starting to get tired of having to load a dozen different add-ons for almost everyone's server. I don't understand why people don't simply put their mods into the Add-Ons folder and be done with it. For example:

C:\Program Files\Blockland\Add-Ons\Add-Ons\Add-Ons\shapes

Alright, we get it. You want you want your mod in the ADD-ONS folder.

C:\Program Files\Blockland\Add-Ons\hoverboard\blockland\Add-Ons\shapes\-=REDco=-\hov

A hoverboard...again? I already have this mod in another folder! Besides, that's way too many folders anyway.

C:\Program Files\Blockland\Add-Ons\CI\a\d\d\o\n\s\blocklands\HALOS\HALO CHEIF\R WINRAR\MM CAKE\HOW I INSTALL ADD-ON\f\u\c\k\

What the hell is this crap? Grow up.

Can you guys see what I mean here? This is just ridiculous. My point is, there should be a separate tool for Blockland that installs the Add-Ons for you, so that filepaths like the ones above cease to exist.

This clunky Add-On system is my one and only complaint of this game. Anyway, that's what I suggest on how this should be fixed.

It's going to be fixed whit v9 as far as I know.

Anything with -=REDco=- in it is basically stuff.  Made by an idiot, installed by idiots.

I don't get how they even MANAGE to do that, anyways. I understand Add-Ons/Add-Ons, but how do they accidentally stick it in Add-Ons/Add-Ons/Shapes/Wut/CI/Folder/New Folder/TeamDMv4/Add-Ons?

Joke.

If you were smart enough to look around, you'd know that this is being fixed.

When I first started, I got confused by the other Add-ons folder, so I just put my Add-ons into both. =P

That's the second time you have posted up a completely useless post in one of my threads. Either you post something helpful/useful in the discussion, or get the hell out. You are 12; get over yourself.

Whatever. In any case, I'm glad to see that this is being looked into.

No point in fixing it now since it's fixed in v9. But the reason why every add-on, except some of the old ones, extracts to the main bl folder is because maps, decals, and some mods have portions that go in base.

I have the C:\Program Files\Blockland\Add-Ons\CI\a\d\d\o\n\s\blocklands\HALOS\HALO CHEIF\R WINRAR\MM CAKE\HOW I INSTALL ADD-ON\f\u\c\k\ problem, it was from Rkynick's server D:

You are 12; get over yourself.

Get over myself? The hell does that mean? I was simply stating that you were too stupid to use the SEARCH feature to find a solution to the problem.

No one searches, deal.

I don't even have to argue with that post, since you clearly stated your incompetence on your own. Obviously, you haven't used the SEARCH feature either. If you did, you would know that doing a general search for "add-on system" brings up topics of questions of how to put mods in the add-ons folder, or topics showing off mods.

RyanThunder Might just be the most mature member in our commuinty.
