Author Topic: Linux is bettar :D  (Read 3287 times)

Speaking of Linux, Blockland crashes under WINE using Ubuntu 7.10 after a few minutes in-game.
Imma' post his in help too.

I use Blockland (v8 and v9 beta) in WINE (Ubuntu 7.10) and it runs quite well. However, I get some crashes when RTB 2.0 (beta) tries to do stuff with TCPObject.

Quick note: Blockland is almost unusable for me in Windows Vista on my laptop (Nvidia 8400 GS M), but runs smoothly with tens of thousands of bricks under WINE in Linux on the same computer. Go figure! I have no choice but to use Linux if I want BL to work well, which is kind of cool. :)

129642 bricks.

I can view it with barely any lag. hahahahhaha,
i'd lag when i had windows with 32k bricks :D
if anyone doesn't belive me i'll try to record a video
It doesn't matter what OS, dipice cream. It's how much RAM and how much your GPU can draw, which in this case, just about every GPU can draw about 129642 bricks, even more possibly, if computers were able to have over 4 GB of RAM. The reason you are not lagging at all on 1 GB of RAM on Linux is because Linux doesn't even have anything running. No svchost.exe's, wuaclt.exe's, cmd.exe, winlogon.exe, etc. etc..

It's the compatibility of the OS with the software that can prevent you from playing it. I prefer to play Blockland on Windows XP, since I couldn't play Blockland on my old graphics card with Vista, and I just got a new graphics card so I am considering Vista.

Betcha wont get above 5 fps from Chideo City.
I got about 31 FPS on 2 GB of RAM. When I loaded it with 512 MB of RAM, I was thinking "WTF :O "

This summer I'm making anew computer and I'll use Obantu as my OS!

*Ubuntu
Also, look at the screenshots for it. Personally, I favor KDE of GNOME so I'll suggest you try kubuntu too.

i didnt think ram had anything to do with brick lag, i thought it was more video card and processor used.
while ram has more use when hosting a server

waits to be shown how he is wrong*

RAM isn't a factor unless you run out.  At 512mb, you might run out.

What you say is impossible. There is a built in limit of 128000 bricks.
cant you change the brick limit?

Try looking in Advanced Config.

You are extremly wrong here buddy,
just look at the wine stats, you may see that there are slowly appearing more and more games that even run better on linux than on windows, even though they were originaly made for windows.
Wine pwns :)

I like to install kubuntu on top of ubuntu.

He's probably saying that because he probably used to have Vista, which Vista sucks your RAM and CPU dry...

sucks is a bad way to put it.
