what would happen if blockland had an engine change?
all the garage games umm... games ive found to have lag issues along with poor and semi-poor graphics and a more expensive engine would benifit the game, problem one: harder to mod, advantage no noob ice :iceCream: cream.

post comments and cus me out if you have to

Actually, tourqe handels some things very nicely.  I was actually able to host three other people with dial-up in RTB.  I also had very little difference in lag between dial-up and braudband from a client's view.

Uh, no.  Badspot spent years on this game, and if he got a new engine, he'd have to first spend the money on it (Probably at least $100, probably more, and it'd have to be a commercial license), and then completely recreate Blockland.  As far as I know, I think he's happy with the amazing game he's managed to create so far.

"Advantage no noob ice cream?"  A new engine wouldn't change a thing in terms of noobs, if anything it might attract more...

It would cost more then $1,000 if he were to buy a pre-made high quality one.

Don't be so daft. How often do you see other games change engine? The only ones I can think of are mmo's that are 5 years old plus, and still have an active playerbase.

You can sell a game with indie licence, just depends on how much you get.

Am I an Indie?
If you or your company earn less than $250,000 per year, you qualify as an Indie

Many game engines (if not most) can cost upward of $100,000 and can include many licensing terms and conditions.

The simple nature of the Torque Game Engine is perfect when dealing with a large number of objects (bricks) and makes modding easier.

I don't graphical improvements would really add much to the game. Now a story mode...

Who knows? maybe Badspot saved up and is changing engines for v9 ;)

Actually the cool things he's done with bricks is pretty much impossible in other engines, otherwise, he would consider this, or not.

Torque game engine Is allot better than you may think, for example;  Look at games like star wars battle front 1 and 2,  The technology behind that is less "impressive" than TGE in my opinion.

Not to mention it has very nice networking capabilities.

I HIGHLY doubt Badspot will ever use a different engine rather than Torque. Maybe he could try XNA, but I don't think he'll do that.

We don't need CryEngine2, Source or SAGE to run Blockland, mainly because they cost at least $500 minimum, would take years for Badspot alone to remake Blockland with a new and more advanced game engine and better graphics plus "harder modability to prevent noob addons" wouldn't cut it.

Impossible? Are you sure? I think more things can be done with bricks in other engines.

That's a map. Not real objects you can stack and put things together.

Still, I'm pretty sure that you can do stack like things in other engines. Do you think Lego Universe is gonna use TGE?

Non lag stuff, I meant, and look at the beautiful physics thinking message.
