Guild Wars is technically a free MMO, since MMOs usually have pay-to-play monthly fees.

Guild Wars is just you pay for the CDs and an account. That's about it.

You actually pay for the account because the game itself is downloadable for free off of the website.

Eh. It kinda sucks that everyone gets their own copy of the outside. Well, there are cons and pros to that concept, but I got bored of it within the first two hours. Remember, you need friends to play MMO's.
