and so I might. That's the trade depot.

Half built trade depot*

Jesus, when I get my turn I am loving moving everything underground, including stockpiles.

The Fourth Day
[/u]
This day started out with the mason finishing up our glorious trade depot. I started digging into the hillside in hopes of creating enough room for all of our dwarves. That horrid flying giant eagle appeared once again, I hope I can contain it quickly before it harms any of the dwarves. I am expecting the trade caravan pretty soon, sadly I don't have much to offer but microcline. I have way more stone then I need, so it is a top priority to store it effectively. Due to my farmer's efforts I have some plump helmets for eating. I plan to seal off the older living quarters when the digging is complete, heres a screenshot of the new 'lobby':
Also, while digging a new well inside of the new fort I have found plenty of sources of precious metal. It should make a decent trade good.
Then came autumn and the trade caravan, and with them lots of useless crap besides one steel battle axe. A full page of leather then a full page of meat is what made up the rest of this list.
They should be bringing plenty of coal next year though.
Oh yeah, they want our blocks next year, that will be very simple with the amount of resources we have.
But I fret more now, a new legendary force is opposing us that will surely cause us our doom in the future unless we take hefty preparations.
SLUGMEN!
[/b]
The good news about this is that it will take them a long time to reach us. Just another damn thing to worry about I guess.

In all seriousness however, the trade caravan was almost hit by the giant eagle. I don't think it would have been a problem because of a marksdwarf guarding the caravan though. I set up a new cage trap near the river, I want to catch something soon.

Can you give us an overview of the fort when you're done the year? I'm a bit confused as to the layout at the moment.

Looks a bit disorganized =/

I've had better forts within summer; ah well. It'll blow up in the end anyways.

You struck hematite? Awesome!

Folks, we officially have an Iron source!

Hmm, so who is up next? And what is the season, I am eager to add to this.

Colten is up next and it is winter at the end of day 5. Update soon, includes epic battle.

I really want to get into this too, the miners have been slacking off, and there isn't nearly enough traps.

Should I make a second one?
So people in the middle of the list get something to do
Or maybe with a poll for who gets a turn on it.

Poll would be nice, I'm playing some other fortresses in the meantime anyways.

The Fifth Day
[/u]
It is late autumn. The first thing that happened was a kobold theif appearing at our trade depot. The stupid kobold theif ran through my trade depot and was quickly torn apart by the merchant's swordsdwarf and marksdwarf body guards. The caravan left soon after. I got a large dagger from his body. The second thing that happened was a wave of migrants.

Woopee, more housing I need to make. It was kind of worthless, two miners, an animal caretaker, a hunter, a cook, a potash maker, and FIVE peasants.
It was then though, that something interesting happened; a new hunter from the migrant wave, Id, had a showdown with the giant eagle. Upon spotting the beast, Id shot an arrow at it and the chase began! They weaved in and out of my workshop area before going southeast into the hills.
It was then that the giant eagle circled around and flied through the workshop area again. Almost by my on duty wrestler, myself.
Then the giant eagle, seemingly intelligent, lured my hunter into a pack of slugmen.
The hunter struck two slugmen and had to kill them before starting the chase again.
Id was right on the eagle's tail when it led Id into another slugman, who was wounded, before finding it's chance for escape over a cliff. Out of Id's reach, Id had no choice but to give up the chase. It is not over though, Id swears it.
After this long chase Id proved his worth by killing four mountain goats and then that alligator!
I guess I didn't have anything to worry about with that. It is winter now and I need to dig out more rooms for the new arrivals. I should also move everyone into the new fortress. Slugmen be warned, we are expanding.
Note: Id is a marksdwarf aswell as a wrestler.

Is this game online? If so I'd love to join :D

It isn't online, but you can swap save files to play on other people's fortresses.
Also, can I dismantle the Trade depot if any of the tree-hugging pointy-eared pricks come along to sell me large wooden junk?
