Serial Key System?

Author Topic: Serial Key System?  (Read 4419 times)

Hi, I was wondering how the Blockland key worked. I assume it uses some sort of online verification process but I was just curious if you wrote the coding yourself or if you got the base from somewhere else. I'm not trying to hack the system or anything as I already have a key but I am curious, I was looking into something like it for RTB to make more advanced usernames and stuff.

Thanks.

Last time I checked, you weren't an RTB Dev.

I wish i was D:

Knowing how it detects what keys are 'allowed' would be a short step away from a key generator, which I doubt Badspot wants.

It seems to have a specific format needed before it checks online - sometimes you get the Key Invalid error when entering it if you have typed parts of it the wrong way, without the "Authenticating..." part.

For all we know, Badspot could painstakingly program each key by hand. Highly unlikely, but we can't be sure so it is a small possibility. very small.

Then we'd have to update Blockland every time a new key is generated, for the clientside authentication ("Invalid Key") and we'd each have a list of every existing Blockland key on our computers. Which doesn't happen.

I think he means RTB 1.45.

Oh yeah, he's one of those Blockland Source/ProjectA handicaps I think. That makes sense.

I guess he's worked out a way to successfully market "BAC's Pack" for RTB 1.045 on Blockland 0002, and wants to add a key system.

I was talking about RTB 1.045, duh, I am not looking to make a keygen as I already have a key, I hate BAC's Pack and Pay-For Stuff, unless it is worth the cost, I am not working on Project A, but I am working on another Torque game which I think a key system could greatly benefit the orginization of the game.

Ephialtes, I respect you as one of the more decent people from the RTB team (unlike some cheezey people) and I wish  you people (the blockland community as a whole) didn't get such a closed mind when everybody switched over to Retail. They are two diferent games which can not even begin to be compared, so stop trying.
Let me put it this way: Your hatred is like hating old cars, take for example the 72 mustang...http://massachusettsstreetrods.com/db1/00050/massachusettsstreetrods.com/_uimages/72mustang.jpg Beautiful car and there are some car enthusiasts who still love them, do you go bashing them because they don't have the newest, latest car? No, you let them be. Let the Blockland Alpha people be, they don't effect you, they don't go around yelling at you and how your all a bunch of handicaps (only the handicaps do that and we hate them too). You people are the ones hating us. Finally, some people who still play Alpha play Retail aswell (like myself).

Why can't we all just get along?

EDIT: Thanks to you people actually trying to help me, but I think it is authed online, the question is how.

I am not saying that you are trying to make a keygen. I am saying it would be possible to make a keygen if the information on Badspot's key system is released, so he probably won't release it for security.

it could use a sql database, or just flat files :P

indeed, but I am just curious if it uses a mysql database, or whatnot and if he made it himself or if he found the script somewhere. The only way a keygen could be made is if somebody hacked the mysql database or figured out the sequence.

Oh please. Look at any of ProBuilder's posts. Infact, just look here:

You can also check out the RTB forums to review all the "RETAIL SUX" threads if you're that ignorant.

Edit: Its also strange how everyone on these forums just happens to be making their own TGE game.

I am making my own Torque game (well, working on it with others), and honestly I think ProBuilder is a bit of a douche but it's not cool how he gets banned from almost every server he goes in just because hes making another game in source.

Again, "(only the handicaps do that and we hate them too)".

I don't want this to be another flamewar, so please could we get back on topic? And remember, I am a paying customer of Blockland, so don't bitch to me, I payed. Jese, I got less bitching when I asked about teh animated background, badspot gladly told me in an instant.

You paying doesn't exempt you from my opinion of you. Anyone here can tell you that.

You don't have the appropriate skillset to be able to make an authentication system like the one Blockland employs (and I probably don't either). Its a custom-built system as far as I know, and I don't think Badspot will be giving you any information on how it works.
