Author Topic: Well, we could discuss Yahtzee's review of MGS4, but it's obvious we can't.  (Read 8754 times)

Yeah, sorry, I never knew you were mentally handicapped.

Yeah, sorry, I never knew you were mentally handicapped.

If your gonna flame, then at least explain.

First of all, the cut scenes are part of the appeal because the story is massive, second, you do not have to stand up when getting out of cover, that is a blatant lie, and three, you don't have an infinite supply of tranqs unless you're playing on baby mode.

Looks like Yahtzee has been sucking too much richard lately.

Last time I checked, MGS4 was supposed to be a video game, not a collection of feature length movies. Decent story telling isn't about quantity, it's about quality. A skilled author would be able to condense their ideas into something more fitting for interactive media. HL2 (a game praised for it's storytelling) never even has a single cutscene hence retaining immersion.

As for the last 2 things you mentioned, I am not really sure what to say. Yahtzee is a mature gamer with plenty of experience so I doubt he would make a mistake about that. In regards to the difficulty, not everyone is a masochist and you shouldn't have to crank up the difficulty to have fun in the game or make the experience any more realistic.

Good job on crying about it though. Shows how much you love the game despite it's faults.\

How has he been sucking richard lately? His job is to criticize games, not to take pay outs from game developers just so he gives their latest work a high score. If anything his honesty is refreshing. Sure you might disagree, I loved Oblivion and Assassin's Creed, but he ate them alive. You learn to live with the good and the bad comments. He tells it like it is and his videos are entertaining.

You're right, everyone should be idiots like you and Yahtzee.  I'm convinced.

Your not even being reasonable any more. How are we idiots?

Look, the only game Yahtzee has ever given an actually good review on, is portal, doesn't mean he is a bad reviewer, he just points out all flaws and no pluses, in a very funny way.

One of the things he said was bad, are viewed by people without ADD as good and 2 of the things aren't even true, and I know that for a fact, Reactor Worker.

*insert long rant without even knowing the MGS series*

I don't know what you've been playing, but HL2 has cutscenes. As for MGS, it's not only praised upon it's gameplay but also it's unique and very well developed storyline. This is the last in the series, and a lot of things had to be answered.

It seems to me as if Yahtzee is getting the wrong idea out of this. All he's looking for is a game to shoot some bad guys. With MGS, you need the storyline there to add that extra effect and a whole new way of looking at the game. he may criticize games, but you can't do it on a linear chart where you would check off things as you go, you gotta make considerations and he has failed to do that with some games.

I didnt see him say anything bad about guitar queero.

hahah look at all the fan boys :D

I haven't played the first or the fourth MGS series. :D
Although I did get a few things across from the third one, and that's what I based my post on. You need the storyline to appreciate MGS.

I'm saying this all fanboy-ism aside.  It would be ridiculous to ask that MGS has less story when that is an integral part of it.
