Well, we could discuss Yahtzee's review of MGS4, but it's obvious we can't.

Painkiller.  xD  Badass.

That's what passes for emotional?  Alright, well, I like his reviews when the game is actually bad (MOH Airborne, Haze, etc.) but when your main problem is too much story in a game that's story is a GIANT part, you're missing the point.  I've never gone to a Quentin Tarantino film and complained about too much killing because that would be simply idiotic.  (Sorry for that reference, I just watched Reservoir Dogs again)  :D

He's reviewing the god damn game based on his opinion, and he apparently doesn't like dramatic stories. You're missing the point of reviews.

Or stories that take too long?

Whats the longest cutscene?

Contrary to what tails just said, Yahtzee does enjoy a good story in his video games and he almost always comments on the story's behind each game he reviews. He was quite generous when he came to describe the story of MGS4. His main complaint was not about the depth of the story (which I agree is a key element of the game) but rather it's implementation.

Neither myself, nor Yahtzee wants the story shortened, just the mini (not that mini) movies within the game dominate the time so much that playing time is hard to come by.

In the end you are a fanboy trying to defend a good game that could have been better.

@entrepreneur in - I agree, that boss fight, whilst meant to be "epic" failed rather miserably. Clunky, repetitive animations combined with repetitive gameplay and mediocre gun fight combined with overly drab scenery was most boring. :(

Edit: I think Zen Bane needs to watch this episode...with some minor changes this could easily apply to him and MGS4. Specifically listen to his section on "objective/subjective" reviews and the part where he says "you shouldn't let it get to you".

They say it's 90 minutes, but I've played it over a few times and I haven't noticed any cut scene that felt like it lasted that long, but I don't know.  They were really long cut scenes, but you have to be interested in it to begin with for it to be fun.  I could see where it is a game that you can't just pick up and play, but that it no way makes it a bad game.

im not much for story

i normaly play sonic rush on cutscenes

HAHAHA I thought this was going to be a thread explaining how the board game Yahtzee was better than MGS4 :D

It does make the game bad. It is like watching a show series in the middle of the season and then you go WTF because you can not understand a single bit of it. This is found to the case in most SciFi baised shows/games/books. A good series that could be playied in the middle of the series is Ratchet and Clank. I accaully plaied # 2 first and loved the series. It is important to understand the story line so you do not get sidetrakced by it while trying to shoot a gient robot that is trying to take over he world.

Not everyone has the same opinion, get over it guys.

for the record, i'm working on a gun that's better than a sissy shuriken lightning gun

i'm working on a flaming stick shooting shotgun rocketlauncher rifley thing

ive noticed that about lots of moderns first person shooters these days, that difficulty levels seem unneeded.
to the point where all the affect, is your ammo amount.
has no effect on the game being better or more/less fun.

old shooters were different
