The Wii, why I'm pissed at it, and why I don't like it.

Author Topic: The Wii, why I'm pissed at it, and why I don't like it.  (Read 7447 times)

And why I don't see how you fanboys put up with the damn thing.

Get ready for a read.

I own a 360 and a Wii, and I play the 360 much more often, and it isn't because of the games, especially now that the damn Wii I have doesn't work any more. This is my story:

One of my aunts came by because of a family thing, and brought her young ones with her. One of the kids tripped up the controller wire in front of me, and the Wii fell 3 feet, onto a carpet, with its own wires slowing it down. You would think it would work fine after this, considering that it wasn't traveling that fast when it hit the ground. Wrong. Everything works fine, but the bitch just happens not to read disks any more. I looked at it and gently swayed it to see if I heard any loose parts, but there weren't any.

Ok, thinking it's just the disk and it got scratched up from the fall or something, I took it out, cleaned it, and put it back in. Nothing. Other disks? Nothing. Ever since I first bought it before the incident, it wouldn't want to read Wii Sports, so I figured I wouldn't play it. Now that it fell, it won't read stuff.

Anyway, I call Nintendo up and explain what the Wii is doing, and they said "oh, that'll cost $75 to fix." forget you.
It is very tempting to jam a screwdriver into the disk slot and scramble everything that is in there, that way I would at least get my $75 worth, and so they would actually have something to fix.

So now, I have a Gamecube which I don't want to play, and this computer. But now I will get to why I don't like the Wii that much.

Online interactivity:
You have to enter a CODE just to find a friend, and in many games you can't even see people's names. I could care less that there is no mic support, but at least something to type something in for quick communication about something important. The most you could do for communication is open up a Ventrilo server or something and talk through the mic on your computer. Also I remember when I would play brawl there were instances where you would get 2 frames per second the whole match, making the 2 minute match 10 minutes. I'm not sure how bad lag is with the rest of the games.

Games:
I find that some of the games are good, but if you went to a game store and looked at what they had, the majority of them would be stuff. So aside from the 10 good games that exist today, you will be wasting your money on a game with no replay value and low quality. At least the game prices are lower than the other two consoles' games.

Graphics:
I honestly don't care about them that much. It delivers good enough graphics to go along with the gameplay, and I am fine with them. At least it doesn't shoot bloom into your face as much as certain games on other consoles (Halo 3).

Sound:
The sounds coming from the Wiimote are low-quality, and are annoying as hell. It can't cost too much to put a semi-decent speaker into the Wiimote, Nintendo.

Gameplay:
Games where you actually have to use the Wiimote's buttons is awkward at times, and gets very frustrating when you get to the more difficult parts of a game. The Wiimote can't read movement perfectly, and it reads well enough to do the job, but it gets annoying when you play a game and you try to do something it wants you to do, and it takes 5 times doing the same gesture before it decides to work. There are also a few games that used the Wiimote where it could have been more useful for other things in the game.

I honestly can't see how you Wii fanboys put up with this stuff. It's a good system and all, but it pisses me off most of the time, and the only time I recalled getting pissed at my 360 is when it red ringed, and when I get pissed at the games themselves.

Oh, and I got it off Ebay. It was untouched and came in the box as if it was bought from a store, and mailed to me.

The Wii isn't a game.

So, you hate the Wii, because yours broke?  You, sir, are an idiot.

When did I say I hated it because it broke? I am upset at it, yes, but I would never hate something if it broke.

I never even said that I hated it to begin with. If you actually bothered to read the first post, you would have seen why I don't like it.

I also apologize that expressing your non-biased opinion about why you don't like something makes you an idiot.

Ok, Brawl's online sucks, but other games are fine.  Also, the console is FAMILY FRIENDLY so children can't give away personal info.

That because the companys can't get over crappy movies and hard to remember motion crap.

Ok, good you aren't a graphics freak.

Do you expect a cheap 1 inch sound chip will have good sound?  Just turn it off in the wii remote menu.

Because you are playing those crappy movie games, get some originals, those will last 2 days at least, so if you want good games, just play your 360 till one comes out.  Also, the Wii is a game console, so it belongs in games.

I do have an 360 myself, and plan to buy a Wii myself. Why? Because of Brawl, Mario Kart, Super Paper Mario and No More Heroes. Haven't heard of any other good games, and no, I don't want Super Mario Galaxy. That's pretty much the only reason.

Also Marcem, the Wii is no goddamn game.

Online interactivity:
Nintendo could better, but never have I had that bad of lag, sure I've got a few hiccups, but it still worked fine.

Games:
I find that there are more then enough good games out there, your either being to picky, or your playing through games without actually enjoying them.

Graphics:
Nintendo has always put price of graphics.  When they made the game boy, people asked for it to be in color like many other handheld systems out at the same time, but they didn't put it in until they could put it in cheaply.  There is a reason why people know about the game boy, and have never heard of those other high priced hand helds.

Sound:
What other systems have sound in their controllers?  I find it fine, and I think it adds a nice layer to playing games.

Gameplay:
At first it was weird to me too, but I quickly got used to it.  Once you get pass the fact that is it a very unique shape for a controller, you realize that it isn't that different.  It's one of those once you get used to it you find that it is better things.

My Wii works fine for me and has fun games, not games that you get addicted to, then realize that you aren't having fun anymore, and just playing it so you can show how much better you are then other players.

online interactivity: its called gametalk.com. you go there, find a game you wanto wi-fi, and say "wanto play me, heres my game code"

games: that sir, is true. hopefully theyll pick the wii up off the little kid level and get to soem fun first person shooters more like red steel etc. i estimate about 20 games in america are good to the average gamer.

graphics: there playable. i agree.

sound: sucks.

gameplay: when playing call of duty 3, i swing the nunchuck to the side, to switch weapons, but it took my command as swining it down to reload. mostly the simple remote shake: this, nunchuck shake: that, and the rest is buttons are good.

the best game of the year on wii according to nintendo power is...drum drum drum-a-dee-bum. mario galaxy! that was a VERY good game. next up is something else. zelda TP and brawl were in the top 5 i know

Had that happen to me Three times (Brother, then twice with two of his friends*) And my Wii still sorta works, a disk error every now and then but it still works

*And his friends are brothers, and let me say this: They define Brothers of destruction

Nintendo's new to the online scene, give them time.

my wii has been completely fine, no problems no disk read errors, nothing :3

And it got knocked over and the plug pulled out a sec ago while i was plang online with brawl, Still fine :3

mr tails wii <3

Ok, Brawl's online sucks, but other games are fine.  Also, the console is FAMILY FRIENDLY so children can't give away personal info. Never tried other games, but they could at least let you see everyone's pseudonym.

That because the companys can't get over crappy movies and hard to remember motion crap. Agreed.

Actually, I don't play movie games at all. My source of this was Blazing Angels and seeing other people play. All I own is originals, with the exception of Blazing Angels.

The sound quality in my wii mote is good i dunno what everybody talking about :|

Have you played brawl and selected anyone like maybe Toon Link?

His YAAAAAAAA sound(idk how to type it XD)

is so annoying and distorted.

Not on mine its not 0_o
