I wouldnt it is very dissapointing. All the different classes are very unbalanced and it is very cheesy in a way. If I were you I would aim towards battle field 1942 or something different.

so that way you can play
and then turn your vis setting to low so you dont lag as bad

One, if your video card can't handle a game, it can't handle it. It doesn't matter what drivers you have for it.

The lowest you can run TF2 is on DX8 with all of the settings on low, and that still leaves a huge performance gap between TFC and TF2.

How can I convince my parents to get me TF2? I tried it out at an internet cafe. I wasn't that good, but it was loving epic.
