It's a shame there isn't a demo, or trial version. Otherwise you could show them that it's not bad.

1. Wrong, DOOM did not Gib, it used static Sprite placement and Animation. There were no Gibs, just a Sprite Tree.

Well, DOOM had the pre-gib, so real gibbing was introduced in Quake...and fun as hell. Gibbing dead bodies (I do it out of spite. :D) was in Quake 2, I think.

The only reason they let me play CS, HL2, and HL2DM is because I got them for free.

Actually it does. You can play on servers with tf_birthday 1. Blood is replaced with confetti and balloons, gibs are replaced with birthday presents and other things.

And the Heavy update should be coming out around the 19th, which means another free weekend :3

You could also get the pack that replaces the gibs with the German ones, and disable blood with some console cmds.
