Author Topic: Is everything coming out for The Wii?...I mean ffs....  (Read 5198 times)

Crysis on a wii would cause it to cry. on the Xbox, I have no idea. I think on the PS3 it would have problems. but on my PC, oh it likes it.

Also, my graphics card is slammer then a car. I still laugh at its size whenever I see it. (I mod my computer. A LOT.)

F*** YOU!!! Wii is awesome! Who cares about the lack of any good games?!?!? Mii Channel pwns Xbox 360 ON IT'S OWN!!! (Yes, Xbox 360 pwns Wii, but Wii is still awesome!)
PS3's best.   :cookieMonster:  SO F-ASTERISK-ASTERISK-ASTERISK YOU!  I just hope more people make their game on PS3, make it look great, and great gameplay, and port it over to Xbox, like Burnout.

What Ive discovered.

Casual gamers (AKA n00bs)-Wii is best
Gamers (AKA Hardcore)-xBox360
xTream gamers (Me, people who know that DDR2 SDRAM is)-PS#

In other words, PS3 is for people who like computers and hope to get a job in them, xBox 360 is for "PARTY PARTY ALL NIGHT LONG!" people, Wii is for Is this a video game? I never know they were like this!

My personal opinion.

well then im a hard n00b....(why with the 0's?), cause i have both. the 360 has better games, and star wars force unleashed will have physics such as shatttering glass and splintering wood on the xbox, but it will just 'break' on the wii. chances are the glass will break in half, fall dwon a 40 story drop, and just stop as soon as it hits the ground

360 are for good physics games and good graphcs and awesome fps's
wii are for the other nintendo-ey games like....mario...and...brawl.

I know what that is, yet you couldn't get me to buy a PS3. I wouldn't turn one down if someone was giving it to me, however.

Um, what? I own a 360 and I consider it the "best" of this generation just as the PS2 was the best of the last generation and for the same reasons however you could hardly call me "hardcore" and despite the stereotype, I do know my way around computers and I will likely end up with a job involving their use.

PS3 seems to mostly appeal to movie watcher types and those who like art/story games (MGS4, FF, etc).

To me, the real sore thumb is the Wii. Sure it's sucessful, but I don't think it appeals as much to gamers of any sort. I'm sorry, but being able to win at mario kart or having a great Wii Fit score doesn't make you a gamer.

So what, now, the definition of gamer changed?

a person who plays games.

So yes, being able to win at mario kart or having a great Wii Fit score makes you a gamer.

Gamer =/= 30 year slob that lives with his parents/12 year old screaming about how high he is/jackasses who actually argue over this stuff(wewt for hypocriticalness)

Get. The forget. Over. Yourself.

I knew someone would call me out on that.

Fair enough, maybe you can call them gamers on a technical level because yes, they are playing games.

Still, the casual market and it's intense success has hurt the more serious aspects of the video game culture. It's akin to seeing a child's crayon drawing in the Louvre; it undermines the efforts of those who wish to keep gaming at it's best, on the edge of technology, on the cutting edge of story telling and the cutting edge of interactive entertainment.

Doesn't it make you just a little mad that Nintendo and other companies can throw together some half assed casual game and sell it for millions while other games with a lot more depth and value and investment get left by the wayside? I'd have thought you would support niche games considering that we all play Blockland.

wii used to appeal to me, most people wanted it so badly, but it wasn't as great as it was mentioned to be because of glitchy remote movements, and game makers don't take the full potential of a game and put it onto the wii.

PC is and always will be, the best way to play video games.

Technically, consoles are PCs too except they use a different OS and use a TV.

Wii is awesome! Who cares about the lack of any good games?!?!?[/size]
LOL?

Personally, I grew up with Nintendo (I was playing SNES at like, age 6  :cookieMonster: ), so I'm kinda biased towards it. Still, the Wii isn't that great once the novelty of "look at my MOTION SENSING CONTROLLER" wears off. Wii Sports is fun at first, but waving your hand around loses it's fun pretty fast.

I can't really GET a PS# or an Xbox(360), thanks to my parents; I don't think they want my little brother playing CoD, Halo, etc.

I'll stick with the good ol' SNES :D

So basically, you want to keep the one generation of gamers?

When did you start gaming? I started before I even went into school.

"it undermines the efforts of those who wish to keep gaming at it's best"
Right, keeping kids out of it. Because you know, none of today's gamers had their beginnings in gaming when they were children. Children in gaming is a completely new thing and is absolutely horrible.

Yes, I know. Nintendo should abandon its roots as a family friendly console and head up fountains-of-blood avenue because some selfish morons can't accept that gaming had a lot of its roots in family friendly entertainment.
Doesn't it make you just a little mad that people continue to undermine Nintendo's work just because it doesn't look like crCIA or contain fountains of blood?

Remember how you said "a lot more depth and value and investment"? Somehow I don't think millions were put into blockland considering Badspot doesn't have millions. Consider getting a better example or quit being a hypocrite.

GET THE forget OVER YOURSELF AGAIN.

I'm glad your able to take my statements out of context Rky, must make you feel real proud.

No, I have no problem with children nor grandparents (or anyone in between) playing video games.

Again, your twisting my words. Its fine for games to be aimed at children, just as some movies are aimed at younger audiences, but when mindless profiteering threatens the more serious aspects of the game development community you have to step back and say "What the hell have we become?". Think of it like this, its ok for a director to make a nice, simple movie for kids, thats fine with me and most people. But, if that same director were to make a movie just full of random flashing colors and sound effects for a few $'s and it, for whatever reason, was a success, can't you see how that erodes some of the reasoning behind making quality games? Why make a quality game when you can make a cheap, shallow one and make more money? Casual games are like the Mc.Donalds giveaway toys you get with kid's meals, nothing but cheap crap put together for a few cents to get them to buy the food.

Did I ever mention fountains of blood? or amazing graphics? no. A game can still be family friendly while pushing the boundaries of its genre. It can still be family friendly and make an effort at trying to more than the sum of its parts. Nintendo has been milking the same udders for decades and I feel that it has really disgraced the word "innovation".

I guess it all goes back the "Games are/aren't/should/shouldn't be art" argument. To state it simply, maybe video games don't need to be like art pieces in the Louvre, but I don't think games should be made in ways that make them look like they should be sold in a flea market.

Family friendly = fine with me
Cheap knock off games printed out like money = hurting developers and consumers alike.

Blockland is indeed a game which is perfect for my example. It did take time and effort for Eric to make the game (and money too). It also has depth, it has a unique gameplay element; building. He may not have spent millions on it, but Blockland is certainly a step above "Sudoku Master" and "Cooking Mama".

Am I riding in the saddle a little to high for you? or perhaps you like seeing a culture, a community, watered down into an indescribable mush.
