got pc year and a half ago, And i don't know or care enough to get a new motherboard.

Maybe when games really start using over 2gb i will care.

Oh, well I don't just run a single program at a time.

I must say, this is an awesome reply. You were on both sides, yet against both sides, and use logic. That takes skill, dear sir.

I'm not trying to have a fight. I don't have a vendetta against RAM or the people who swear by it. I'm just saying that having more RAM and/or "faster" RAM isn't going to change much about the detectable performance of a machine. Many state that adding in another stick of RAM is like upgrading from Dial up to cable, but the change isn't that significant. Sure, benchmarks show an improvement, but the average Joe isn't going to notice unless there is a serious problem (likely caused by themselves).

If you want to spend hundreds of dollars on GDDR3 RAM just because it has better timings, then that is your choice.

Buying DDR3 ram now is stupid. Wait for it to become more mainstream.

Buying top of the range RAM now is just like buying any other piece of high end computer technology....you pay more for buying early but that is generally the only problem with it (other than the occasional lack of working drivers).

DDR3 RAM is fine and if you really want it then theres no reason to wait. If your into hardcore computer technology then you probably already know how much your willing to spend to stay on the cutting edge.

People would assume that Vista on 512mb RAM would be absolutely unbearable - it's not. I just wanted to make it quite clear that it's still not a good idea and it has been very little fun.

AGP Video card. Hell yeah. I have several of them lying about.
When the GeForce 10* series is released, I think a lot of people won't even remember AGP.

There is no Geforce 10 series. They renamed them to the GTX 200 series. Hence the latest cards are the GTX 260 and GTX 280.
