Author Topic: Point out an online store that'll assemble a computer with the parts I choose.  (Read 3162 times)

Ok please point some out :D

EDIT:  I mean a website I could go onto and pick the parts for a computer and they could assemble it and ship it to me.  Something like that.

monoprice for cables that you need

You'll get raped up the ass if you go with a PC building service.

I have seen PCs with parts costing $800 being sold for $2000 (think alienware and ibuypower). These retailers will allow you to choose the parts that you want and build it for you and everything, but often the parts they recommend will be low quality alternatives and will be severly overpriced.

Then there are places like Falcon Northwest which use high quality components, but overprice their machines by thousands of dollars.

Unless you enjoy throwing money away, please, please build it yourself. It really isn't that difficult to put together and there are many people here and across the internet that can help you with part selection.

Your not saving time nor money by using a building service.

EDIT: Heres a list of websites that will build it for you...you have been forewarned.

www.ibuypower.com
www.cyberpowerpc.com
www.falcon-nw.com
www.Alienware.com
www.dell.com/content/topics/segtopic.aspx/xps_savings_event?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs

Alienware is owned by Dell and Ibuypower and CyberpowerPC are the same company.

Ibuypower isn't TOO bad...
But its much better to buy the parts separately yourself. And don't, just don't, go with Dell.

Yes

I bought a 100ft CAT V cable for like $10.

A computer is just like a lego set, it's not hard to build it. I did buy a PC from ibuypower once though. It was OK except they gave me a stuffty video card that ended up dying for no reason.

Does anyone want to give links for all the parts (on Newegg.com preferably) for a good computer that can handle most games? :cookieMonster:

Whats your budget? I will put something together for you.

Well its not just about his budget, its about what he does and what kinds of games he runs. Quad core would be great for multitasking, but not really much of an advantage for gaming, but there's quite a bit of money between dual and quad.

He already mentioned gaming as the main use for the computer.

If he encodes video on a regular basis I can fit a Quad core into the budget. The price difference isn't that great.

When people say they want it to run games, they mean they want to run games. That doesn't mean they won't do other intensive tasks. I'm sure gaming isn't the only thing he does.

TigerDirect need to get logan back D:

he was awesome D:

I also want a computer. Somewhere beneath $500, a motherboard that allows SLI, a dual-core cpu at least 2.4 GHz, a case that has a side glass view panel, and a EVGA GeForce 8600 GT PCI-E (I already have one, I'd love to SLI though.). No speakers, mouse, keyboard or monitor please.

Coming right up.

Lol RW, you should make a topic saying "I offer computer wishlists to you!"

Just ask for budget and what kind of stuff do they want to do.
