OH I GET IT, YOU CAN POST IMAGES FROM ENGRISH.COM HAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Yeah but the translation between the animes are way off.
Here is a good example
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_o0hMeYDJMw
It has been directly translated from jap to english in the sub but the dub version is completly different because they changed it for American kids.
I only watched bits and pieces of it, but all it seems they did was remove a few swear words and loveual things. If you're bothered by the fact that it isn't a direct translation, you're a loving idiot. When you translate a work you
never do a full direct translation. If you do it ends up sounding stupid most of the time. Language is not meant to be directly translated, the differences in core structure and use create a barrier to that. For example, if I directly translated, "La computadora de Pablo," it would come out as, "The computer of Pablo." In a proper translation it would be Pablo's computer.
When you translate something you obtain the main idea of it, then reword it in the target language to appeal to the audience. In the case of anime, many Japanese pop culture references are replaced or removed all together. They wouldn't make sense to an American audience. In the translation dub used, I see little that detracts from the message provided by the subtitles.
