Author Topic: I Need Good Splitscreen Games for the Xbox 360  (Read 2436 times)

Any suggestions?  I don't really want to spend much money on them, but I might be able to get my friends to pitch in if they like the looks of the game enough.  Kind of looking for racing games, or anything other than FPS's really.

Pfft college, almost everybody prefers consoles in an entire dorm of engineers.  My day is not complete without the sounds of missed notes on Guitar Hero floating down the hall.

Games I have:

Forza 2 Motorsport (Yuck!)
Halo 3 (Old.)
NHL 2k8 (Still fairly fun, but I have no competition.)
Guitar Hero III (Not only old, but my roommate sucks at it and refuses to play.)

I have some stuffty singleplayer ones, but I am more of a PC guy so I haven't bought too many Xbox games.

Duke Nukem 3D, DOOM, Kane and Lynch. Just suggestions.

I'd like to introduce you to the modern console generation. We have HD gaming, we have connectivity with millions of players worldwide and we even have avatars and a marketplace for buying and downloading games.

Guess what one crucial we don't have? Games supporting splitscreen.

I guess it never occurred to them that people would be buying larger TVs to play their HD games on, or perhaps they just got to greedy and realized they could sell 2 games in place of one. Either way anyone but the online users got forgeted.

The Wii isn't the best party system because it has "cutesy" games or hand-waving furor...no. It wins the award for best party/family console because more than 1 person can loving play on it in a household at the same time.

Now before you go telling me off for not mentioning "x" game that features said offline CoOp, I will admit there are exceptions to the rule. But that is all they are.

I couldn't tell if you were insulting me or hating on the fact that games no longer come splitscreen.  For the sake of my pride, I'll go with the latter.  I see games on television, in the store, or read about them online.  I recently looked at Burnout: Paradise and Pure.  Both games look amazing, and I want to purchase them.  But in addition to the games, I would have to buy a router.  Xbox Live doesn't work in the dormitory without your very own router in your very own room.  You have to configure certain settings before you can connect with your Xbox.  You would think that the routers on every floor would be configured to work with consoles, because there are at least 3 on every wing, with 4 wings per floor.

Even if I do buy a router, it has to be a "Tech-Support Certified" one.  I'm sure a Linksys would work, but I would have to call the computer store and have them tell me the allowed brands and models.  Then, I would have get it authorized by the techies and make sure it was all setup correctly and not interfering with their systems (because a first-year computer engineer doesn't know how to properly set up a router).

Tl;dr, I don't feel like wasting my precious time setting up a router and wasting the minutes on my cell talking through it with some idiot on a workstudy job.

I ought to just buy a Wii.  Thanks for the suggestions Yuki, I'll look into them.

Gaming companies are assuming we are all a bunch of loners.

The LEGO Games made by Tt Games aren't splitscreen but can do multiplayer which can be a little fun...if only for a short while.

I don't really know, because most of the games I have aren't splitscreen-multiplayer.

Forza 2 Motorsport (Yuck!)

What. It's a great game. Anyway, try Rainbow Six Vegas: 2.

I still play it. Tuning and great simulation must not be his cup of tea.

You read me right.  I like going fast and ramming things, like in Flatout.  I didn't necessarily hate Forza 2, it just wasn't my style.

I wasn't insulting you. I was merely lamenting the lack of splitscreen support in the current console generation.

Yeah, if a girl was in your house and you were playing singleplayer then she would get bored and move on.

Split-screen in this scenario would get you closer to touching boob.

In my case this would be true. Except I wouldn't look at it as touching boob.

;)

unfortunately no girls come to our houses in 7th grade, I guess it seems kinda weird for them. Plus, they're all stupid as stuff anyway :(

Nor would I, I just thought it sounded funnier.
