Looks like the first Spore expansion is going to be "Creepy & Cute". Not yet formally announced by EA (although likely to soon be), the expansion is somewhat self-explanatory from the title. The EA Store website lists the Spore expansion for $19.99, with a Tuesday, November 18th release date. It's also listed on GameStop.com. No screenshots or details on how many additional creature parts you get just yet. We'll be posting them as soon as more info is released from EA!

Almost makes me want Spore. I'm still waiting for its price to drop, though.

OH BOY I LUV SPORE

i just hope this is a good expansion

Oh good. Instead of fixing things and adding more depth to the game, lets just throw a mediocre pack of useless creature pieces together and market it for 2/5ths the cost of the entire game itself.

Seriously. Add more gameplay to the cell stage. This might add more gameplay to creature though.

I think that they really should add more modes all together, and also creature needs more.

Seriously, I want my spore creatures to make castles.

SPORE EVOLVES WITH NEW CONTENT, GAMEPLAY AND TOOLS

With more than 30 million player creations invading the Internet since the launch of Spore™, fans have let their imaginations run wild and soon players will be able to take their creativity and gameplay to even greater heights! We are pleased to announce the development of a Space stage expansion pack and Spore Creepy & Cute Parts Pack -- add-ons that will grow and evolve the critically-acclaimed video game, Spore.

“Spore is an incredibly personal and customisable experience,” said Lucy Bradshaw, general manager of Maxis studio. “Many of our fans have asked us for even more tools to build with, while others are looking to extend their gameplay. As soon as we wrapped up Spore, we turned our focus to creating additional content that caters to fans’ individual tastes. With the cosmos as our backdrop, we can take Spore in almost infinite directions, constantly changing and evolving the experience.”

Gamers will experience deeper Space stage gameplay with an expansion pack scheduled for release in spring 2009. For the first time, players’ space faring creatures will be able to beam down from their spaceships to explore new planets and earn rewards for completing challenging missions. A new Adventure Creator will allow players to build and share their own custom missions online, providing almost endless gameplay possibilities.

The Spore Creepy & Cute Parts Pack, available in Europe from November 20th, 2008, provides more than 100 new creature-building components themed in two distinct styles—charming, cartoon-esque creatures and scary, monster-like creatures. Including body parts, paint options, animations, backgrounds and more, Spore Creepy & Cute Parts Pack allows users of Spore or the retail version of the Spore Creature Creator to give their creatures distinct personalities like never before!

Well, at least they have some actual gameplay stuff in the works. I'll probably skip the creature pack.

I still kind of think there should be some sort of demo, so you know whether or not your computer can handle the full game.

The Game's Grafix are so bad its funny, then again, they are fun grafix

There should be sub-stages depicting periodic things in evolution and enlightenment (enlightenment = tribes to space).

Cell should have the normal cell, multicellular small organism, and fish. I want to be a loving fish.

Creature...eh, nuff said.

Tribe should have stone age, medieval age and colonial age.

Civilization should have early 20th century type age and modern day.

Space stage is the sandbox of the game, so nothing there.

Also, there needs to be different ways to start your evolution instead from a dumb geode. How about your a mutated offspring of another cell? Or maybe you were just formed by an omniscient being (Steve :O ).
