Return to Blockland v3

Meh, I like RTB for the name. I like that it has history, especially since we have references online to "RTB" going back like 4 or 5 years, so people will be more likely to find the new versions of BL through those if they google "RTB". Plus I think the name still applies right. "RTB Cloud" for the cloud services would make sense IMO. The RTB "brand" has strength and momentum behind it. Everyone that's been plang BL forever knows what it is anyway.

Put clouds and Mocheeze's choice method of transport behind the word "Cloud". Gosh, that'd look pretty.

Maybe put an option on the server message option to highlight and give words differen colors, so we don't have to do <FFFFF:>color, or whatever.

As much as I love RTB (Mostly thereasons mocheese put up) I agree we need something to distinguish old RTB from new RTB. BL cloud is a good name, in my opinion, RTB Cloud is even better, as it has a clear separation and it links back to the old blockland. I also love the idea of a hot air balloon against a background of clouds as a logo.

:o  Ephi's a necromancer!  I like BLC or RTBC, I think maybe you should have BLC, but still have things relating to RTB in it, like the history, and still have RTB as a subtitle.

I know its "iconic" and has history, but lets face it - the number of people who actually used to play pre-retail is declining pretty fast (in relation to the number of people who didn't) so the history and meaning behind RTB is lost to them. The name Blockland Cloud, or just Cloud for short - makes it sound more official too and perhaps something Badspot would be more inclined to endorse. I also think the history behind the name is pretty irrelevant given how extremely the focus of RTB has shifted between v1 and v2.

That's my point - the number of veteran players is decreasing as more and more drop off the internet and more new players join Blockland. They won't have any idea what RTB or "Return To Blockland" means and a quick google search will return a bunch of youtube videos of Blockland Alpha which is sure to confuse (and already does to a massive extent). Our links to the RTB site can still be maintained by just redirecting them to Cloud or to the BL site itself. Essentially the "RTB Brand" is getting weaker given that even less people remember it from "back in the day". Of course I'd probably like to keep the name RTB too because it'll be such a monumental process of changing all the code and logos and references everywhere but I just think the name doesn't fit or describe the purpose, and is even a bit confusing - and I expect this will be lowering the interest in it from new people. I setup a new poll so feel free to vote.

I am curious if you have any other reasons for not changing it though? I mean, I'm not 100% for changing it (hence not voting yet) and I'm still checking out what everyone's got to say about it. I bet this is some ploy so you don't have to make a new logo.

If you change it I will still call it RTB. Its just something you can't really change.

Personally I think a name change would be best. When I think RTB two things of my Blockland experience as a whole come to mind: the Editor Wand, the construction helmet and add-on downloading. Now that only that last one is relevant I think redefining the mod would be useful, especially since the name makes no sense to anyone that has started playing since release of Blockland

I think we should keep RTB, but if you would want, you could add something too it. Other than that, if you do end up changing the name of it, keep the old name alive, keep links, and put it in the RTB manual (the history section)

Lol at kids trying desperately to whore credit for things. When there are mixed feelings on a subject it's pretty standard to throw up a poll - you're unfortunately not the inventor of a new trend of poll making.

Also it looks like we may be sticking with the name RTB (for now, anyway) just to speed up the v3 release since that thing's been sitting in the pipeline way too long now. I haven't ruled it out for the future though.
