The worst thing they can do is convince the devs to change some stuff.

EA publishes plenty of good games.

I don't think valve is a publisher...

They make their games and publish them. Maxis would still be making the game.

I think that EA is a good choice no matter what they do people will whine. Ubisoft would not have been a bad choice, maybe even activision.

Valve does publish some small time games like "the ship". Theres nothing much stopping them from becoming big time publisher.
