Nope, Japanese metal is stuffty and impure, that's why they had to fold it. It'll take a week for all the components of a long sword to be made, while the katana would require a long folding process. Katanas are not made for the kind of combat longswords see, you don't usually want to parry with a katana.

It's really a matter of personal preference.
I honestly prefer the quick precise movements of a katana but you guys are comparing their actual combat capability when in reality it would be entirely dependant on the skill of the wielder.

I have a  big ass beefy commando knife somewhere but last year it was stabbed into a treestump and my friend who was at my house kinda fell off my roof and landed on it and bent it.
And that stuff was like impossible to bend back.
