Steam crash problem.

Of recent, I have been getting raped constantly by steam crashes. I can't even run Half-Life 1!

Or put a Old on the end of the blobs name.
For instance, NameHere.blob goes to NameHereOld.blob

Similar thing is happening for me. I try to launch L4D, but it just says preparing to load, the screen flickers then it takes me back to the desktop.

I need an answer too. I have tried everything that Steam Support has told me to, even reinstalled L4D, but nothing is working. It used to work before I installed 2gb more RAM.
