Author Topic: Version 10 will not work for me  (Read 2609 times)

Either way. I'm giving this one more day of trying to get this game to work. If it still cannot be started, then I will officially give up.

So either somebody who knows their stuff (not that I do not appreciate those that are trying, which I thank you guys for), tell me something useful, or don't bother replying to this thread. Seriously.

BTW I found out the crash was simply a result of my putting in a bad command (I had misspelled the Direct3D) in the console. But even with the correct name, it still doesn't do anything.

My last guess would be for somebody to help me make a script that changes the display device when you start Blockland to what I want.

SO please, help me here so I can make this last attempt at getting this game to work.

Recap so far of my problem:

My computer does not suck, and all drivers were checked for updates, and they are already confirmed to be up to date. (I have no problems with any other video games or programs I use on this computer)
It ran Blockland just fine in the past when I had windows XP (which is no longer a choice as an OS for me)
I switched to Vista and the game no longer works.

Via my research for people with similar problems using the Torque engine, I have discovered that the
problem has to do with my specific video card and how windows Vista handles OpenGL while using that specific program.

So the only other choice that I can think of to attempt to force the game to start in Direct3D upon the first launch. I cannot even just disable the video card, because my onboard video is made by the same manufacturer.

And therefor, I would like somebody who knows what they are doing, to please come out and help me if you can. If you guys can't help me, don't worry I won't blame you. But I cannot pursue this problem any longer if there is no sign of ever solving it. Its only a game, and I can just find other things to do.

Sorry for the triple post (why the edit feature is not present on this forum area is weird to me).

But after reading all of the Q and A on the actual blockland site, I've realized that Direct3D is stupid and won't work. I need to point out, (in case anyone didn't see) that by posting here, I am showing you guys that I know nothing about this stuff, and it is why I'm asking for help...

Contact Badspot, then.

I don't think he can help here. He designed Blockland, not the Torque gaming engine. It is not his fault, nor his responsibility that some video cards do not fully support vista for every last game out there.

I'm posting here in hopes that somebody else had the same situation as me, yet they had solved it somehow.

Did you try installing XP again?

Because Wow is just as demanding as a game like crysis(tm)

You should post your console.log, so people who has idea about stuff can have a look at it.

Maybe you have to run it in a different compatibility mode. Or, try uninstalling one of your drivers, and getting an older one.
Hahahah nice joke, Yeah those flat cartoony graphics are the most demanding thing i ever played

Good luck even getting it to work on a old computer!
That's what I thought about TF2. I was really wrong.

I think he said when he ran it last time when he was active he used XP and it is due to him not having it on his computer any more that it is doing this.

on one of my cousin's computer, it only works when the game was clicked in the blockland v10 folder. try that.

Tried the compatibility feature, no dice. I have the console log attached.

I seriously don't get it, because the game was fine on XP on the last time I played it, which was when I just got this video card, so I know its not the card itself. The only thing on the PC that is different is that it has Vista now. It plays all other games, and uses all other programs with no flaws.

The attachment feature is not working so I'm going to have to paste the console.

Disregard "OpenGLDevice::setScreenMode -- can't switch to resolution larger than desktop in windowed mode!" this was because I was trying something stupid. That is not the problem. so please don't tell me it is.. I'll repost the console now. Sorry about that guys
