Author Topic: Installed new video card; having major sound issues. (fixed)  (Read 2536 times)

My EVGA 8600gt came in the mail, I installed it, and now I'm having sound issues.

No sound except for static.
Doesn't matter what volume is set to, still hear static.
Tried running linux, same problems.
Running Windows 7, but sound was fine until the new card came in.

OH HELL YES.

I stripped my dinosaur (Don't know the specs, I just know it has 256mb of ram.) of its sound card, and installed it in this, and now sound works.

Glad I didn't trash the old thing.

You uninstall the old video drivers and install the new ones?

Control Panel>Manage Devices>Display>Your Video Card>Update drivers.

You uninstall the old video drivers and install the new ones?

I didn't run anything to remove the old ones, however the newest drivers for the 8600GT are installed.

I couldn't find the old drivers anywhere.

They're probably still there though.

Why would a graphics card be effecting sound?

No idea, but I just want sound to work.

Driver Cleaner Pro

Try this.

i use the crosshair2 mobo. and for some reason whenever i install or update nvidia drivers, my sound ones get messed.
and all i have to do it manually reinstall the sound ones after to fix.

How? Also driver cleaner pro costs money, which I don't have.

Wasn't having this issue before the new video card.

You your you took out your old graphics card instead of your soundcard?  :cookieMonster:
