First press (I) on the alpha slider so that you set a keyframe then, just like how you would animate a box or something move to frame 5 or so then adjust the slider to 0 so that its fully transparent.
Well, those were pictures ingame... so I couldn't have done it in Blender without modeling the surroundings and stuff.

Edit: I don't know how to animate a box and I'm not interested in using Blender, other than for renders.

I have no clue.  Tried Unity at some point and had no idea what I was doing.  I'm just going to make a bunch of robotic-like models and see what I come up with.  Usually I stumble upon a theme before I develop a concept.  Was thinking of making it an FPS.

It's my fault for using ingame Blockland footage.

Btw, did you post the beveling reference tutorial?
Neat!

Question, were you holding down shift while selecting to do multi-select?  Also, de-selecting?

I explained that in this tutorial:

But yes, I was holding down shift to do multi-select and shift-drag-right-click to deselect. (Explained in the first minute of the video)

Oh, perfect.  Really needed that :)

wait, how do you insert a model from one file into another blender file?

File > Append or Shift+F1.

I made this in flash...

It's not very good and the resolution is crappy.
