You're doing it wrong if you're holding a gun with your left hand in that orientation.

Just the top picture, that is two right hands. If you held the gun at the front with your left hand, your fingers would be on the right side of the gun.

Unless it's an MP40, you shouldn't be holding a gun by its magazine


and even then you're supposed to hold the MP40 by it's magazine housing or the underside of the gun to avoid feed malfunctions
