I just need the models themselves to make hats, right?  I would just like the models.
Well, it's actually good to use the character models so you know if it fits, connects, whatever, you need to have Source SDK installed, it's in Steam/steamapps/username/sourcesdk_content/tf/modelsrc/player/charactername/parts

Make sure you do, i don't know if Source SDK Base 2006 and 2007 are needed, but you should install those just in case

Anyone want to help troubleshoot getting the TF2 models into Blender with me?  I can't find that SDK folder

The eyes seem to be at the wrong place. Here's a bottlenose dolphin for reference.
I said dolphin-thing for a reason. Its not a dolphin as we know it. Its eyes are supposed to be in front.

There is no error, it just doesn't decompile characters.
It says it loaded the model and exports files with nothing in them.
It doesn't even export all of the files.

Exported 46 files few of which were empty and one gave an error due to the SMD import script which might be old. 7814 triangles was the highest res model I could find.

Okay, so i just had a thought, since i'm giving the headset a style that removes the microphone, 'Communicator' may not make a lot of sense with no microphone, so should it be called Manntronics Earpiece? Or do you have a better name?

(a.k.a. i'm using the same world lighting settings and such as i was with the original texture sheet, but for no apparent reason, it's not doing ambient occlusion correctly this time around)
