My first model since I don't count the other one because it wasn't finished.

Can use some textures, can improve on the handle or whatever it's called. I'm still getting used to this.

Why is that thing up there and how do I get it down?

Space > type "Set Origin"
or
Shift Ctrl Alt C

> Origin to Geometry will put it in the center of selected object
> Origin to 3D Cursor will put it wherever your Cursor is
> Geometry to Origin will snap the mesh to the Origin

I somehow got it to work with this render without using any image editing programs.

or just enable RGBA while rendering

also save to .png instead of .jpg, makes the alpha layer stay there and gives you a generally higher quality render picture

I always use .png because .jpg doesn't have transparency.

And render with Straight Alpha instead of Sky.
