hi guys so im modeling a ww2 tank interior this is the gearbox

(also my first high poly model so id love tips on how to not overdo polys while doing good looking realistic model)

and no im definitely not saving my work to be posted at the top of every page :^)

Thanks conan
Nice gearbox, what tank are you modeling? Or just generic ww2 era tank?

Ps is there like a limit to vehicle size in bl?
Will it create weird visual artifacts like disappearing when you look too far away from the center?

sherman firefly interior. its difficult to get good reference pics since very few document the interior. most are either miniatures or different tanks, so i've had to extrapolate a bit.

there is no limit to vehicle size, but the way BL determines how to render things is based on the vehicle's bounding box. if you are looking in a certain direction and your bounding box isn't correct then it may either not render it or screw things up.

post a pic if you have a problem, though it would probably go better in the BL Content Creator group or in modification discussion.

Nah it's all good, was just gonna make sure before I model an entire train that it'll work.

How do you guys model actually?
I just make 1 cube and then copy and fill in vertices from that, and use transform to move those vertices.
Is that dumb or does everyone do that

Everybody starts with cubes. It doesn't matter how high of a resolution you work in. Cubes are just the most useful primitive.

good lord that's a lovey mr2

i
how
how will that even turn

are you intentionally giving up the ability to turn???
i was thinking of how to do it for the smaller trains you had. but this will be basically impossible.

1 dimensional travel is super rad man

Can you at least multi-track drift with it?

If you try to multi-track drift with BL physics you'll end up outside the solar system

more like stuck in the ground, unless you're drifting alongside another train aat the same time.
