My theory is simple:
(-) x (-)= +
(-) x (+)= -
(+) x (+)= +
However, if you put it this way...
(-) + (-)= 2-
(-) + (+)= 0
(+) + (+)= 2+Then, if you fail at failing, you're a double failure.
If you fail at succeeding, or succeed at failing, then you accomplished nothing, however nothing bad.
If you succeed at succeeding, then you're twice as good. :o
