Author Topic: World of Warcraft: (What if) Character Housing  (Read 1748 times)

I read this interesting blog thing, and she has the Idea of player housing in WoW. I think it would fit in nicely, although her system of Tier 1 (Small), Tier 2, and Tier 3 Houses are kind of... it makes everyones house the same. I would want a type where you added rooms.

I know, this is the Blockland forums, but I just wanted to discuss it.

The reason I want this, is that it would add another part to the endgame. In WoW, theres raiding and PvP. That can get a little dry after a while. I wouldn't mind if it was expensive as hell, but it would add more feeling on involvent.

Pros -

Moar Endgame
Fun
Customability

Cons-
May be hard to store data. The data could be as simple as possible with the layout for peoples houses being like forge saves in halo 3, they are only 100 - kilobytes.

Only a few terabytes on their servers.

Again, I know this is the BL forums. This game is so popular its taking over.

wow don't have houses yet? geez, get with the times. old school mmo content

Inorite?

Also, the graphics of the game suits player housing.

Even runescape has it.

Would be a nice idea but with all the new content I'm pretty sure it would not fit in

How so?

They've been mentioning adding player housing since beta. It's not happening.

If there were to be housing in WoW I would like it to be sort of like Tibia's housing. However, that would be a huge undertaking. I don't think WoW is structured for player housing.

For those who don't know what Tibia's housing is like. Basically, there are houses and guild houses spread throughout the game. Many houses were in cities, and you could drop your items in them to show off. They weren't instanced, which was the best part.

Everquest 2's housing system was pretty neat.

Instanced would be necessary, with 10 million players.

I think, if you weren't in a guild, your house would be by itself.

But if you were in one, your house would be in the guild neighborhood, with the guild hall in the center. That would be awsome.

You never know if they will add it or not.

I heard (most likely false) that the gated-instanced section of Stormwind was going to be made for housing, later on.

I could be wrong, of course.

forget yeah Tibia. I had good times in that game.
But like in most MMO's I get bored out of my mind and start adventuring beyond where I am suppoused to be and so die countless amount of times and give up.

It was according to alot of peeps.

And then your guild could buy upgrades, until your in a metropolis :D

Yes, here are my opinions.

Make it expensive, but not impossible.

Make it so its expensive or hard to add things that you can do in cities, such as banks, forges, mailbox's.

I don't want cities to be ghost towns.
