Author Topic: Guitar Hero: Metallica. First Anti-Rage review.  (Read 1626 times)

Let's do this.
This morning I woke at 8:30 and ate breakfast. Left at 9:30 to drive to the next city over to pick up my pre-order of GH: Metallica. Got home and rocked it.

First Impressions:
The opening was amazing, actually. It displayed all of Metallica's Albums in a lineup, which then proceeded to be sucked up (along with the band), into the Death Magnetic coffin. Great, I do say. So I proceeded to the main menu, which had pushead artwork on every screen, which was cool. Then, I went into Career mode.

Career:
Career, Expert, Customize, Start. It opened like a Metallica concert, the "OOOHHHAAAAH" music playing, and credits rolling as the band members walked on stage. It forces you into playing For Whom The Bell Tolls, then The Unforgiven. Both great songs, fantastic! After that, your story begins as you put together a band and head out to audition for Metallica, and then open for them. What's that I see in the first setlist? Bob Segar AND Lynyrd Skynyrd!? I know this is going to be awesome, as Segar's song destroys my pinky finger. Then, Metallica comes on and I rock out to their music. An excellent lineup of songs, I might add. Master of Puppets, Sad But True, Enter Sandman, Seek and Destroy. Damn...

Final Setlists:
The final setlists are always epic, having long ridiculous solos in every Guitar Hero game (Except IV, it jsut had hard songs, exception being Trapped Under Ice, which is basically a solo anyway). What could await me? I thought as I beat the last in this venue. Fight Fire with Fire, Hit The Lights, and others greeted me with hand pain. One? One is indeed on here, being totally reformatted to the new engine, and is still awesome.

FINAL STAGE!
As I finished Fight Fire with Fire, a new venue was unlocked: Ice Cave. wat.
A cutscene plays, a Metallica jet flies toward a temple made of ice, as a kraken (or as the song implies, Cthulhu) pulls the temple down, and you play for the frozen audience: The Thing that Should Not Be. It wasn't hard, but it was appropriate, and a good ending for sure.

Final Thoughts..
The ending left a sort of cliffhanger, I can't help feel I'm missing something...
Anyways, it is an amazing game. For a Guitar Hero Game, vastly superior. Against Rock Band 1 & 2? no Contest. Not only have they improved upon much of what Guitar Hero great, they expanded a little bit with the band-specific idea, and it's fantastic.

NEW COMMERCIAL!
I just saw a commercial for GH: Metallica...
Holy loving stuff.
It started like the other GHWT Commercial, but, where's Hawk and the rest of th- WAT. Kirk is roping them to a tree, sacks over their heads, as the camera comes to Hetfield as he says:
"You really think we'd let them dance around in their underwear for our commercial?. We think NOT."
As he proceeds to press a detonator which BLOWS UP THE HOUSE IN A GIANT MESS OF FIRE, WOOD, AND DEBRIS.

10/10

I agree with the review for the most part. I love the song line-up this time around, although I miss my Ride the Lightning </3. The opening scene with them walking out was amazing, and the story is pretty cool too. Haven't played much in career yet, been doing Quickplay with Venom. The improved the vocal play a giagantic amount from World Tour which is cool, now it can actually pick up what I'm singing!

God I want it so much :(

I still think Activision should stop spamming stores with their Guitar Hero games and just make them in DLC packs or something :/

Guitar Hero: THE GAME, download all these fricken "Other Games" as add-ons D:

I've only played Guitar Hero once and I must say its like AudioSurf, gets boring after a couple of songs plus you get stuck playing through the crap parts of the songs.

IF WE MAKE YOU PRESS DIFFERENT BUTTONS TO DIFFERENT SONGS WE CAN MAKE 20 VERSIONS OF A GAME THAT BASICALLY HAVE NO DIFFERENCE!

IF WE MAKE YOU PRESS DIFFERENT BUTTONS TO DIFFERENT SONGS WE CAN MAKE 20 VERSIONS OF A GAME THAT BASICALLY HAVE NO DIFFERENCE!
WE CAN TAKE AN INSTRUMENT AND PLAY DIFFERENT SOUNDS SO WE CAN MAKE 20 VERSIONS OF THE SAME NOISES.
WE CAN REDESIGN A CAR EVERY YEAR...
WE CAN MAKE NEW GRAPHICS CARDS...

It's all about updating.

I downloaded the demo of this today when I realized I didn't have the money to buy it. From what I saw, it is worth getting, and I already have RB1+2 and over 300 songs for that.

Oh great, a pusillanimous individual metal band that sells out AND makes video games.

Yeah, they shouldn't make money. Let them starve. Perfect sense.
Also, they didn't make the video game themselves.

And yes Grumpy, yuki is right. Everything can be made better, so why not do it?

If Deep Purple, Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin are next or will be done in the future, I'll kill someone.

They make it so you can play the music you enjoy, though its funny hearing someone say I can play on hardest (Or what ever level it is) on every song.

How many guitar Heros are the going to make???????????????????????????
