Author Topic: Color Selector (just like brick selector)  (Read 2099 times)

Badspot had a longer post than this somewhere as Wedge mentioned, but this is the one I can find:
This could easily be done with engine changes but I'm not going to do it because 1. I don't think it's a good idea gameplay wise and 2. Transmitting the brick color with 32 bits instead of the current 6 would add significantly to the loading time.

Date field is apparently necessary in quotes for the link, can't get the proper one since it's "topic too old"

I see, still; it would be a very cool add-on for those that don't care for the load. I still hope someone decides to make this add-on.

A change or improvement to the RTB color set manager to allow you to edit it and save new ones would be nice. Something like the one for the avatar menu, maybe. This would be for your own server and just change the existing 64 colours, though. (not in-game)

Thats a very good idea, but I think it should still be editable in-game.
I'll leave it up to anyone who wants to make it.

Lol, December 31, 1969. Doesn't the Avatar Gui have a color maker thing for RGB so you can customize the color of your avatar? Couldn't we make something like that and have it write the color values to a colorset.txt and do some other stuff?

Intersting idea.

Well, the Brick Selector has a limit.
Why not the Color Selector?

Well, the Brick Selector has a limit.
I didn't know that...

Crap, I meant to say Inventory. The brick selector is limitless.
Which brings up the question: "Could there be a color inventory and color selector?".

That may take some thought.
As I said before:

With Blockland's engine code as it is, you have a limit of 64 colours to set bricks to. You can't do anything else.

i said about a paint RGB selector thingy aloong time ago and badspot said it was unneeded and would take up too many datablocks

phew whys it so hot in here

Maybe not a make colors thing, just a selection of premade colors.
That way there is not the endless possibilities of colors.

Isn't 64 enough?

Maybe even if this is made maybe a place where you can Create your own colors
