Author Topic: Something to make it easier to dogfight and what's the best view for dogfighting  (Read 1247 times)

Trying to fly a plane and shoot is a pain. I was wondering, has anyone thought of some mod that would make player held guns work well with flying vehicles? The bullets don't go right when I'm trying to fly and shoot.

Also, I got to ask since I can't decide. When I was on a dog fight server, I could not decide what's the best view when flying a plane or mini jet and shooting at the same time. I sucked at both 3rd person view and 1st. But I want to know. What's the most recommended view for dog fighting? I like 3rd person view because it gives me view of my cool looking character and it's vehicle and I also see things around me better.

You have to be able to predict the motion of your plane and that which you're trying to hit.

If you're the only person in the plane, try switching seats to be able to turn and ensure your plane is going in a straight line to fire.

A spread-fire weapon like the Minigun can help if you aren't precisely accurate with e.g. rockets or sniper rifles.

Flak cannon should be stronger, someone should make a weapon that can take down planes easily and has a good spread. Dogfights would be more dramatic, or they should make a plane, like the bi plane, with a turret seat in the back that has a nice spread and good damage.

No overdamage weapons, no lock on stuff, just one saying. Shoot where your opponent is going to be, not where your opponent is.

Someone should make a good dogfighting plane that has really low health. Or these servers could just modify the versions of whatever vehicles they have to lower their health.

First person if you know where they are. If your opponent likes being a jackass and starts looping and spinning, go into 3rd and get them in sight, then switch to first and follow their looping patterns.

Only planes I have are stunt plane and mini jet, both are too fast to fight in a dog fight, only good dog fighting plane is the bi plane

To have a good dogfighting plane you need one that has 2 things:

-A high spread, fast shooting gun for the driver (this makes it easier to hit other planes-- you cover a larger area with the spread)

-An accurate flak cannon turret for a second person that shoots a large projectile that explodes after a certain amount of time into many smaller projectiles which quickly explode, causing lots of damage over a wide area.


This makes it possible to actually hit someone.

Which is why we use flak that could cover that entire picture.

The main problem I have with planes is that on laggy servers I end up blowing myself up because the bullets spawn behind my plane and hit it. (This is especially obnoxious with the A-P bomb.)

You have to predict the movement of planes. Don't move your mouse too much and get close before you fire. Get them by suprize, Planes are easy to shot down when your behind them. :P

But I get what you mean. If only the steering of the planes weren't so sensitive. Maybe it would make things easier?
