Author Topic: Half Life: Sequence of games?  (Read 2740 times)

Well I played the demo of HL2, and the first time I really didn't see it coming, it being zombies and  that weird face (the face that is under a headcrab zombie's headcrab), so I just quit after "We don't go to Ravenholm". Today I finished that chapter, and now I don't get scared, just a little jump if I see one of those fast zombies jumping at me.

What I want to know is, should I buy HL2 first, or regular Half Life.

Reasons for HL first:

•Better understanding of story
•Ability to get some older HL mods
•Less expensive

Reason for HL2 first:

•Better game (?)
•Ability to get HL2 mods

If possible, I would like a list of all the Half Lifes, going in order by sequence of story... I know there are a lot, too. Opposing forces, lost coast, ep1 and ep2, etc.

I dont get how Ravenholm scares people

I dont get how Ravenholm scares people

Does that mean I am not alone?

Well, in the demo, it is the first level with zombies, and dark hallways, and zombies jumping out of nowhere.

hl1 don't have much to do with hl2, Just a few referances

There wasn't all that much plotfeed in HL1 unfortunately.  Most of the important stuff is recapped or alluded to in HL2.

In the first level oh half life 2, a guy named barney said he owed me a beer. 2 questions:

1- What did you do for him the make him give you heaven in a bottle?
2- Do you ever get that beer?

1- What did you do for him the make him give you heaven in a bottle?
In HL1, use (E) a security guard before the experiment, and sometimes he'll say "Hey, catch me later and I'll buy you a beer!". In case you didn't know, Barney was a security guard in Black Mesa.

2- Do you ever get that beer?
No.

i bet episode three is entirely about gordon trying to find barney to get his beer

Get the entire box set of Half Life, has every game from it, Half life, Blue shift, Opposing force. Play through them.

Buy HL2.

HL1 is just a lot of corridors and aliens. It gets boring after a while. Many of its mods are dead or lightly populated.

At least in HL2 you can make decent maps and play with its physics, if you don't download any mods.

It's a great way to get the gist of Half Life one, all while enjoying really funny commentary.

Sure it only goes to about half way through the game, but the rest isn't all that important. It's like, portal, goes wrong, opens worm hole, army comes in, they shoot, you die, respawn, more corridors, meet Gman, say yes or he'll kill you. Oh and his briefcase says Black Mesa on it, so he like worked there or something.

I don't remember it all, it was years ago.

Or watch half life in 60 seconds to get an even faster gist of it.

Tails' description is best: Gordon makes headcrabs and Gman lets him play HL2.

I saw that before I bought hl2, and I thought Alyx would die at the end.

I played HL2 before HL, and when I first saw Gman I thought the game had terrible graphics. :I
