i dont have the cds anymore because my mom or dad threw them in the trash

The thing is, he never actually had the game. He made up this story to see if he would be banned if he said "I lost the disk for GAMEHERE. Could someone upload the game for me?" When for real he never owned it, he just wants to pirate the game without getting banned

If you want to do it legally it's $25 off of amazon if you buy it used. (although a couple of misguided developers are unfortunately lobbying for this to be illegal too)

Everything else is illegal.

Downloading is legal, uploading is illegal.
If you mean commercial games without permission, yes.

Just because the software industry's trade organizations happen to be a bit less generous than the MPAA and the RIAA when it comes to handing out lawsuits doesn't make it legal.

Almost everyone here's wrong.  ALL downloading AND uploading is illegal!  You can only use a copy you ripped YOURSELF.  The ripping falls under the backup copy.

Try contactiong the creator or something, give them registration key, show receipt, etc.

Does it matter? No one is going to come after you unless you are selling or mass-producing it.

want a backup copy without piracy?

make it yourself right after buying the game, that way you have a spare encase your original cd stops working.

it becomes piracy if you share your backup on the internet.

Or give it to a friend, even giving it to relatives.

You can download old video games that are not licensed anymore :D it's the same way with old movies.

This story is not adding up. First he says he needs new CD's. Then somehow a virus comes and deletes every known existence of the game off his computer. I do not have enough proof to expand this theory, but i have the little i need not to withdrawl from it. Is he possibly just finding out how to pirate and stuff? No. Yes. IDK?

the story is...
i bought the game...brought it home and installed it into my computer...for a while i liked playing it...but then a few disks broke...then the play disk somehow got broken...and then i couldnt play it without the play disk so...and then...a virus got on our computer and we had to reformat it...>_< and now im asking if its piracy to download a "back up" version of the game...like the story?and if that isnt proof enough i can tell you any fact about the game...im kinda rusty but...
the twi'lik is named mission the wookie is named...zalzibar....or something the gunner guy you meet in first levelk is named carth...in the first "city" you have to kill a few storm troopers to get their armor so you can pass to an elevator to the sewer area...in the sewer area you go to a cantina with a bunch of dancing twi'liks and you see a bounty hunter there sometime who can kill anything...good enought proof?...
