Author Topic: survivalRP - holywtf bump! and maybe finishing up some loose ends??  (Read 112329 times)

Players should spawn at the last fire they were near. Then ctrl+k won't save you, especially with that spawn time.

Edit: One more idea.
Fuel for vehicles. Running out of fuel in the middle of nowhere and being forced to build a camp would be win
Agreed with both.

i also am working on a system for when a player leaves they respawn at said location

Ctrl-k could still save you... but you'll be carrying stuff you don't want to lose. And it isn't really a spawn time, everyone spawns at 10 minute intervals, everyone on the same second. You die at the wrong time, you might wait 9-10 mins. You die at the right time, you might respawn in a few seconds.

Fuel would be sweet, but we've got plenty of things for now lol.

Perhaps I could try to code on the side while Azimuth is away, I've recently got really interested in scripting. Also, I know that I'm not known at all really but if you need proof I could send you a couple of my scripts or something.

Here's an assignment: Override normal chat with local chat. Only players in your zone can hear you talkin'. If you need the survivalRP map tell meh.

Do you want optional chat, such as Global, Local, Whisper?

Mmkay this is what I need people's opinions on. Should we have Global chat? I think it'd be cool if we only had Local and Whisper, but that might be too, uh... hardcore? I dunno. I'm completely down with it, but what do you guys think?

You know how i wanted to join mapping team? Well i am working on a map that you might like.

Global Chat could be made so you could only do it at certain points, "Radio Points"? Local could be useful and done anywhere, and whispering could be done locally, and at RP points.

I could do that easy.

Or maybe you could unlock global chat once you build a radio. And also at radio towers but would only be one way unless someone else has a radio too.

For Lego's day/night lighting idea, its impossible, unless you want to change maps every 10 minutes, trust me, I triedish. Although you can make a sun rise and set, you cant update lighting within a map unless you have map editor open, and use relight. (IDK if you can somehow do it with scripts though...)
@bithead, I already made the map if you didnt see...

Ok thought so.

As for global and local chats: Maybe... you always have a portable radio in your inventory that lets you /whis, if you drop it you can't. If you make a "radio tower" brick, you can use global chat, but only other people with radio bricks will receive it. Radio bricks should be really expensive.

Btw guys, I'm going on vacation til Mondayish, sooo... you guys do what you can.

Thats possible
Grim used to host a server where the admins had a radio and could talk to each other, and the clients would try to break in and steal it

That's the idea. GUIs make it more cool, official, etc. People saying "Truce k?" in chat is meh. Awesome GUIs are shweet.
imo

What does everyone else think?
I mean, if you are not firing at them then you are 'allied' with them. More fast-paced and 'survival', not 'build the awesome overpowered clan of people in an alliance' who go and dominate everybody.

Ideas for the Radio:
- Radio Tower bricks can only be placed within a certain radius (quite large) of other existing ones.
- They can be destroyed by being shot at several times or being hammered by the owner. Bricks that are disconnected from the main spawn point or some central area are coloured grey until re-connected.
- Using Team Chat will give players a randomly generated 'Radio Number' between 0000 and 9999.
- This can be adjusted with slash commands or the Brick placement keys without a temp brick. (Left/Right = +/-1, Forwards/Back = +/-10, Up/Down = +/-100)
- Players connected to you through tower bricks, and within 20 IDs of yours can hear messages in Team Chat. If you are not exactly on the number, it recieves static (parts blanked out as well as the last two digits of the ID recieved)
- If you are physically near another player using the Radio/Team Chat, you can see their radio ID for listening in on their conversations/espionage.
- Perhaps being outside a certain number of tower bricks also causes degradation in the signal/messages. (e.g. if you are ten kilometres away you will receive less clearly than a few metres away)

I think the system (alliances + Radio) should encourage people to band together in small groups,  either for their own gain or working with others. Alliances should change quickly (hence no GUIs) and be temporary, friendly fire and the like will always be 'on'.
