Haha, sweet. With the primordial desert generator, the actual generated map has a bedrock wall around it, I didn't know why till I climbed up a mountain and saw over it. Minecraft generates normal terrain on the other side, so I jumped down the other side of the wall into the water, and now I have escaped the deserted hell.

Edit: I decided this is cheating so I will be starting the map over. I will try to resist the beauty beyond the wall.

takes a long time but in that time make your strategy
your goal is to, from the inside out do 1 of two things...
MAke the entire land flat which may be impossible, making the other task a good one,
Try to escape the land in the least time possible without death.

Build a wall around your city or house with diagonal sides that form a star. On the outside of the wall where the sides meet, dig a hole and put lava. The lava will light up the area, as well as force any mobs chasing you into it. Of corse you need to light the inside of the wall and probably add a ledge to the top so spiders can't jump in.
