It wasn't broken to the point where hosting it would clog you up.  It had a few hiccups, but this game is in beta for a reason.  It still says that multiplayer is unfinished when you enter an IP.

I didn't update because I like playing on minecraft servers. Until most plug-ins and the servers work properly with 1.6, I'm sticking with 1.5

My home server that's hosted on a VPS is up on 1.5, and it has all the plug-ins as well as Bukkit. I also tried 3 other servers I occasionally go to. They are hosting 1.5, because 1.6 has none of those things.

I really don't care about SMP. So I use my 1.6 and I LOVE IT!!! I just want my texture packs to update!

Good news, in recent times with Minecraft being updated to use less CPU power what'cha-ma-whose-its, i am now able to play Minecraft on the laptop, but it's still a tad slow, but it works better with the fog being set to short

Oof. I always hated the look of wild grass. I just don't think it lends itself well to the low resolution texture motif of Minecraft.
