Can anyone tell me what Herobrine was?

Also, I'm on my friends server, trying to craft glowstone. I have it set up properly and all, but when I click it to get the glowstone block, it disappears after a few moments. I'm not lagging, my friend tried resetting the server, I restarted my MC, but it still doesn't work. Has anyone had this happen to them and how do I fix it?

Herobrine was a ghost kinda thing that appeared in single player with the default skin, but without pupils.
He also appeared to be Notch's brother that died.

With the glowstone, make sure you are mining it with a pickaxe, Notch made it so you can only mine it with a pickaxe.

Oh, ok. I've never seen him :u

I mined the glowstone with a pickaxe, put it in the 4x4 grid (with 1 dust on each corner), then I clicked on the outcome to move it to my inventory but it just moved right back to the crafting grid.

I'll see if he'll let you come.
