No, it's MCmap, meant for huge multiplayer maps.
It rendered my 25MB singleplayer world in 17 seconds.

Be careful when you go mining, the golden rule of minecraft: Never dig directly down or directly up.  Especially watch out for those creepers.  The first huge cave I found, I hit the jackpot.  A creeper ruined everything for me when I was heading up.  If you can manage to build a bow with arrows, they are life savers.
