The Ender Pearl can be used to make Endermen teleport away fom you when right-clicking on them while holding the Ender Pearl in any game mode.

When a player is carrying an Ender Pearl, the distance from which Endermen will become aggressive when stared at will be halved, making it somewhat easier to approach them.
