No, all minecraft update ruin the mods.

You can't make a mod compatible with all versions.

And since everyone who makes mods are so loving terrible with java, they have a messy code that's attached to minecraft by a wet string

Seriously, if fixes so minor they don't even deserve a version number can break every Mod, they weren't good in the first place. I can vogue for at least Alerter being terrible. It's hard to use, and there's spelling errors in at least two places in the help. That stands out to me, because the help isn't so big you wouldn't notice it. Guy doesn't even skim it, it seems...

Reading the topic, it looks more like it's a bunch of variables, some of them already in use. Your player is a mob entity, but it's reused for everything else. Doesn't make them all you. Potion is just the generic name for something used for stat effects.
