Are there caves in infdev?

There are either caves that go through land masses and usually have nothing inside them besides either silver or coal, or there are the gigantic indents in the rock from outcroppings in cliffs. If that makes any sense.

Notch says that he will add them soon, he keeps getting them wrong.  The old method for creating the caves was to spawn them with the map, but in infdev, they would have to be spawned for the entire map, 8 times the surface of the Earth.

What he should do, is to have them spawn randomly after you tunnel into the ground, so as you build a tunnel, you might encounter a cavern.

Well he has a lot to do and he only started really focusing on it a few weeks ago, of course it isn't working yet.

I can't wait, but I keep thinking about how he's going to make things more multiplayer-friendly, such as breaking a block and having somebody standing next to it trying to take it. I'm assuming it would only be able to be picked up by the person who broke it for a few seconds, but who knows.
